Pre CanSkate

What is the Pre CanSkate Program?

This 30 minute group program is an introduction to learning to skate for anyone who has turned 3 (as of April 1, 2023) for the upcoming season.

Instruction is done through play and fun lessons and it builds the child’s skating skills and confidence.

Who Teaches  Pre CanSkate?

Our Pre CanSkate program is run by qualified NCCP Skate Canada coaches with the help of our program assistants.

What Should a Skater Wear?

Since we skate at the Memorial Centre, the arena is fairly warm and comfortable. Skaters should wear snow pants or splash pants, a sweater or coat that they can unzip and non-sticky(fuzzy) mitts or gloves. A hockey helmet is mandatory and a face shield or mask is recommended. As well as well-fitting skates, either figure skates or hockey skates are acceptable.

Next Steps… After the completion of this program, the skater may advance to the CanSkate Stage 1-3 Program.

Welcome to the PFSC Website

Since 1946, the Peterborough FSC has been providing skating instruction to people of all ages. From our humble beginnings on an outdoor rink, the club has grown from a mere handful of skaters to several hundred skaters who participate in a range of different programs within the club. Our Club strives to ensure that skaters of all ages and abilities achieve their skating goals in a positive and safe environment at the Memorial Centre.
